Moving Day

Image
NOT FOR US......................................... Deb's cousin have been lucky enough to find a place to put their horses and house that's big enough to live in. The place is ideal, if I was 20 years younger, for horses. It is a gated ranch that doesn't take anyone to open it, just a push of a button, it's electric. It is south of their old house about 13 miles. The front of the house has rose bushes that are in full bloom. The "north" patio, Alesha called it the "C" patio (coffee) will be great in the morning. The south patio, the "B" patio, beer patio in the evening was a great place for "help" to have lunch. Deb fixed an excellent lunch for hot movers. We all filed in and filled our plates for an afternoon epicurean delight. It sits on 3 acres separated into 4 pastures with automatic water'ers and irrigation. The tack room, trailer storage and work shop are right by the stalls and are all wired and light

4 Wheelin'

Image
We went 4 wheelin' today and saw some amazing scenery. We left about 8:00 am and got home about 5:00 pm, seemed like a full day of fun and adventure. As you can see, it is overcast and a cold front went through. In the "valley" it was supposed to be 10-15 degrees cooler, well guess what happens when you go up in the mountains.........cold. We did see snow but the temp was about mid 50's and scattered rain. But still beautiful. In all of the mountains, desert and chilly temps were some of the neatest flowers ever. There was Indian Writings on the rocks. It took us about 2 hours to get to this area. Most people don't even know it's there. The area is supposed to be where the Indian women went to birth their babies. The rocks were hollowed out, like bathtubs, and then they gave birth in those tubs. Deb is sitting on the rocks above the river bed area where these writings are. Click on the picture to enlarge it.  You can see the rock art better. D

Cactus Flowers

Image
Today was a day just like any other, here in Paradise. Well not really, but we didn't do much except go around the park and take pictures of the cactus flowers in bloom. It is amazing how many different cacti (?) there are, and some of them bloom. We will try to post some of the 70 pictures that we took. Enjoy!!! Deb started spreading rumors about my flower pictures....... she said "He was exploring his feminine side", I told to quit because that's the kind of stuff that sticks and a cowboy can't be accused of using his "feminine side" out there on the range (if ya know what I mean).

Arizona Bike Week

Image
This week is Bike week in Arizona and we went on a Poker Run Sponsored by the Mesa Fire Department. A Poker Run is where you pick a playing card from five different places and the rider with the best hand and the rider with the worst hand wins. We rode over 200 miles and stopped at differnt locations to pick up a playing card for our "hand." The first stop was Superstition Harley where the Mesa Fire Fighters put on a pancake breakfast and you picked up your ride packets. Our 2nd stop was at the Drift Inn Saloon in Globe. The Drift Inn, by local lure, is the longest continually open bar in Arizona. The upstairs was a "whore house" during the early years. Welcome to the greater downtown area of Globe. Our3rd stop was Boston's Lake Hour Grill.  The stop was not marked very well and we drove right past it but so we wouldn't feel so bad as so did about 90% of everyone on the ride. Our 4th stop was Jake's Corner Bar. This happened around lunch time

Where Are The "Days" Now...

Image
Where are the Day's...................... we are alive and doing well. Currently in Apache Junction, Arizona at a +55 resort working for our stay. We have been staying in the southwest since 2008, our last posting. In fact we are about done working and on our way to our next adventure. Most of you won't believe this but................... we are going to Cora, Wyoming, I think its snowing there right now, and we will be on a "Dude Ranch". Not really sure what we will be doing but it ought to be interesting. The name of the ranch is the Box R Ranch, located just outside of Cora, WY, which is about 60 miles southeast of Jackson Hole at about 7,500 feet in altitude. Friends that know the area said "There is nothing out there!". Sounds like an ideal place for a "dude ranch". I talked to the owner yesterday and he said we will be going out on cattle drives and doing alot of horseback riding. Go visit their website http://www.boxr.com/ . We will try to
