55 Nomad

Image
Mike and I flew to Sarasota Florida and picked up this 55 Nomad last week.   This photo was taken at Tucumcari, New Mexico on our way back.  Check a big one off of Mike's bucket list!!!

Bristol, Tennessee

Image
We realized we were going to be going through Bristol and decided to stop and see the race track.  While looking on Trip Advisor, I found out that it was the birth place of Tennessee Ernie Ford.  Mike loves his music. On to Bristol.  It was huge.  Mike said it is one of the smaller race tracks. On the tour, they usually take you around the track, but it was closed for painting.

Mayberry, North Carolina

Image
We made a side trip to Mt. Airy, North Carolina.  This is where Andy Griffith was born and the Andy Griffith Show was fashioned after this town.  We toured the Andy Griffith Museum.  It was a trip down memory lane.  It was amazing how much we remembered form those shows. It was a fun stop and recommend for you to stop by if you are in the area! We went up one side and down the other side of Main Street and ate at Barney's. Floyds Barber Shop was closed....

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Image
We arrived late to Gettysburg National Park, but just in time to see a movie and experience the Cyclorama Sound and Light Show.  We stood in the middle of a round room with a mural painted on the walls.  There was a narrative with lights and sound of a Civil War Battle.  Very impressive. On the way out I took a picture with my cousin.  We then went to the National Cemetery and had an hour tour by a registered guide.  I swear I smelled smoke. This is where President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address The sun came out, check out his shadow.

Hershey Pennsylvania

Image
From the road into Hershey, you can see the theme park on the horizon. We by-passed the park. We toured the museum.  I was impressed with all of the good works Milton Hersey did.  He did not have children, but donated 60 million dollars to an orphanage. We did not realize that a town came out of the business that Mr. Hershey built. At then end of the tour we tasted chocolate for different countries.  Hershey chocolate is a blend of these chocolates to give them a unique taste. Yum!

Martin Guitar Tour

Image
We went to Nazareth, Pennsylvania to tour the Martin Guitar Factory.  It was established in 1833.

Orange County Choppers

Image
Today was going to be uneventful.  Just a 4 hour drive to Nazareth, Pennsylvania.  I notice on the map an Orange County Airport, so I looked up to see where Orange County Choppers were.  Dang, just 40 mile away and right off of I84, in our route.  Side trip..... We were in time for a behind the scene tour. Paul Sr. was in the shop and came over for a photo op!  Paul was trying to show us a video he took yesterday and he was have trouble getting it to work. We especially wanted to see the Fire Fighters Chopper that they made, but it was in Germany.  We did not see a Moline Fire Department Patch, so we are going to mail them one. We talked with Paul's sister, Elaine, and she told us of all the charitable work they do.  Paul Sr. does a lot with the Make a Wish Foundation.  They are an incredible family. They are currently working on a bike for Bass Pro.  It is going to be beautiful.  I don't know if these should be public....
